The Symposium comprises two separate events:
Graduate Conference, 17-18 May
Research Workshop, 19-20 May
GRADUATE CONFERENCE
Keynote speaker: Scott Soames, University of Southern California
The Graduate Conference will focus on recent issues concerning
meaning, modality and apriority and their interrelations. There will
be 16 slots for active contribution from graduate students: 8 slots
for paper presentations (35 minutes) and 8 slots for comments (10 minutes).
Call for papers:
Graduate students interested in presenting are encouraged to submit
a manuscript of about 4000 words, prepared for blind reviewing. The
deadline for submissions is 1 February 2010, and notifications of acceptance
will be sent out by 15 March.
Graduate students interested in commenting on a paper should get in
touch with the organizers.
RESEARCH WORKSHOP
The Research Workshop will involve discussion sessions with Scott
Soames about his current research (participants will receive a preparatory
reading list), as well as 4 selected paper presentations by researchers
engaging with topics from Soames work (45 minutes each).
Call for papers:
Researchers interested in presenting are encouraged to submit a detailed
abstract of 1000 words or less, prepared for blind reviewing. The deadline
for submissions is 15 March 2010, and notifications of acceptance will be
sent out by 7 April.
